What PenWriter does not do
Better to read this now than to find it out after a month of writing. Some of it is Amazon's doing, some is PenWriter's decision, some is a gap that will close.
Publishing
The big one.
- It cannot publish your book on Amazon KDP
- KDP has no interface for another program to create or publish a title. The one Amazon offers for selling is not for this, and the one for advertising only works on books that already exist. Driving KDP’s website as if it were you would put your account at risk, so PenWriter does not. It prepares everything, and the last step, uploading, is yours.
- It cannot promise Amazon will accept a book
- Every check asks whether a book meets what Amazon has published. Amazon decides afterwards, and may find a problem a published rule never mentioned.
- It does not show sales, rankings or reviews
- Amazon gives PenWriter no way to read them, so no screen shows them. Keyword and niche tools give estimates, labelled as estimates, and are never Amazon’s own data.
- It cannot tell you what to answer about AI
- KDP asks whether text, images or translations are AI-generated. PenWriter can show when its model wrote prose for your book and suggest an answer, but only you know what happened outside PenWriter.
The writing
A draft is a draft.
- It does not write a finished book on its own. The model can invent, repeat itself and contradict an earlier chapter. The editor catches some of that, not all. You are the author, and you are responsible for what you publish.
- It does not check facts, rights or the law. Nothing PenWriter says about publishing, copyright or tax is legal advice.
- Some languages come out rough. The languages page says which, and how rough.
- Its own screens, buttons and emails are in English only.
Money
Plans are not final.
- There is no checkout, no card form and no invoices yet, so nothing can be bought. The planned launch prices are on the pricing page, and you will be told before anything is charged. A plan is credits a month, chosen by whoever runs a copy of PenWriter. Pricing has the details.
- It does not give free credits for reviews or for sharing PenWriter, and it will not.
Things that need a connection
Present only where somebody set them up.
Pictures, narration and searching the web each need a service that whoever runs a copy of PenWriter has to connect. Where none is connected, the studio does not offer the feature, rather than showing a button that does nothing. Which of them a particular copy has is theirs to say.
What this site will not say
No invented proof.
There are no testimonials, ratings, logos, or counts of authors or books on this site, because PenWriter has not counted any and will not make them up. Every figure on these pages comes from the code or the rule file that enforces it.

Amazon changes these, and has changed some of them recently. The page is the authority. PenWriter keeps each rule with the page it came from and the day it was read.
